IT Minister Tarakarama Rao: 4G in Hyderabad by July, Hyderabad will soon have a new service called HyFi, in which wireless 4G services would be rolled out, by mid-July.”
Minister for Information Technology KTR is keen to launch the service called Hyfi which will feature wireless 4g services. The service is already available in major cities like Kolkata and Bengaluru
The 4G services would be at least four to 18 times faster than 3G services depending on wireless or wired connections. The new police fleet would also be equipped with the technology
Ever since KCR came to power, his government has been gung-ho about bolstering the infrastructure and brand value of Hyderabad. To moot the IT sector in the city, recently Harpreet Singh, secretary of information technology and communications department, informed Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao that 90 per cent of the turnover of the IT sector was coming from Hyderabad, with revenue worth Rs 62,293 crore. This means that the city is the second largest IT exporter in the country.
And recently, nodding to the spree among investors and firms to provide 4G technologies in Hyderabad, Minister for Information Technology K Tarakarama Rao informed that, “Hyderabad will soon have a new service called HyFi, in which wireless 4G services would be rolled out, by mid-July.”
Informing about the speed of the new wireless connectivity, he said “The 4G services would be at least four to 18 times faster than 3G services depending on wireless or wired connections.” Officials have been asked to draft a master plan by engaging international consultants and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, revenue, electricity, Hyderabad Metro Rail and sports departments, said a government statement.
The recent inauguration of Global Edge Software Limited’s office at Banjara Hills can be a stepping stone. The company has been providing comprehensive services on mobile application, user interface, operating systems and various mobile platforms. Its expertise spans across 2G, 3G, 4G and LTE technologies. Apart from this, Indian telecom service provider Airtel recently tested Find 7, the first 4G LTE smartphone from mobile phone manufacturer OPPO India. The phones are now available in 12 major cities and regions of India including Hyderabad.
Another promising note in this regard was the recent decision to bring about uniformity in the police force. Apart from donning a ‘dark blue uniform,’ the cops would also be patrolling in brand new Toyota Innovas with GPS and 4G Internet services, instead of the age-old Rakshak vehicles. Incubation facility and Wifi The Telangana government plans to establish the "country's largest" incubator for start-ups and make entire Hyderabad Wi-Fi enabled, as it seeks to shrug off the slowdown in the information technology sector. KTR said that the incubator would be set up in collaboration with institutions like the Hyderabad-based International Institute of Information Technology and Indian School of Business, besides technology partners from the industry.
"We are creating the country's biggest incubator facility where new ideas, innovations, research and development will be nurtured and nourished. We will create an environment where the government will even look at the possibility of providing seed capital as well," Rao said. He added that he is also actively examining a proposal to make Hyderabad a fully Wi-Fi enabled city to ensure that common man and information technology companies benefit. These two ambitious goals (incubator and Wi-Fi initiative) shall be pursued in the next six months," he said.
