The school which remained off the radar in the catalogue of concept schools made its way to the news after winning the inter-school championship organised by Gray Matter. But the lauds did not stop there. There was a bigger thing in store for the students. Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal was named its mentor for one year and Gray Matters filled colours into the students of Sreenidhi Concept School, Bandlaguda Jagir. The announcement was made at an event held on the school premises on Saturday.
Every child wanted to ask a question but a few got the chance to ask them. While one student asked what it felt like playing an international match for the first time, another student requested for tips on how to manage time between sports and studies.
Saina, who is ultra quick on the court, slowed down to answer each question patiently. She shared her experiences from her schooling days and gave tips to them. The children were mesmerised. And before anyone could notice, it was time for her to leave.
“It was a great experience. I will be busy with the many tournaments lined up this year. But I will make sure that I take out time for this place and have such sessions more often,” said an elated Saina.
SEED schools operations manager, Pramod Majety, felt that this meet was a huge boost to the students. “The kids did not want her to leave. The kids are happy and will remember this day for a long time,” he said.
Manish Kumar, SEEDS School Director, explained that the organisation was working towards bringing in quality education at affordable costs. Further he said that the organisation goal was to bring out hidden talents among all kids so that even those branded as dull would also achieve better results in future. He also thanked Saina for coming to school and inspiring the students.
The shuttler then gave away awards to all the winners of the inter-school events which were organised earlier in the month of February.
