​Hyderabad: Industrial visit is one of the key parts of curriculum at GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, during which students visit companies and get insight regarding the internal working environment of a company and how a company functions, as well as useful information related to the practical aspects of the educational course which cannot be visualized in lectures.
B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering II and III year students of GITAM, Hyderabad visited Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, A Government of Telangana Enterprise, on Thursday. The prime objective of the visit was to acquaint students with the working of Metro Rail. During the visit, students visited Metro Railway stations, Key Operations area, Control Rooms, Workshop, Maintenance Depots etc. Students learned the operations, cutting-edge technology of Metro Rail.
The visit developed a clear idea about the functioning, working, and maintenance of Metro Rails and Railway Stations. The Metro Rail System has proven to be the most efficient in terms of energy consumption, space occupancy and numbers transported. Eco-friendly – causes no air pollution, much less sound pollution. Low energy consumption and reduces journey time by 50 to 75 per cent.
Hyderabad Metro Rail operations are from Miyapur to LB Nagar in Red Corridor and from Nagole to Ameerpet in Blue Corridor covering 46 Km distance with 40 stations. Hyderabad Metro Rail has crossed 30 million cumulative ridership milestone on November 14 in 351 days. It runs nearly 550 trips covering around 13,000 Kms daily. Faculty coordinators Rafiuzzama Shaik, Jagadeshwar Kandula and about 65 students participated in this visit.
