Symbiosis Institute of Business Management Pune has completed an exemplary summer placement season for its 41st batch. Since its inception in 1978, SIBM Pune has grown multifold by setting higher benchmarks each year. This season saw the highest stipend being offered at INR 3 lakhs to 18 students and around 40 per cent of the batch received offers above 2 Lakhs.
More and more companies each year are focusing on recruiting through summer placements. This trend is evident in SIBM Pune which witnessed 26 new organisations this season. In summer placements, students work for 8-10 weeks to gain experience that often translates into full-fledged job offers for most. A diverse mix of student profiles- a uniform distribution between fresher’s and people with work experience (ranging from 8 months to 60 months) ensured a splendid match between employers and students. Student background was heterogeneous- manufacturing, IT and consulting among other varied prior experiences.
The recruiters offered 197 positions thereby ensuring a 100 per cent placement. This time, the average stipend clocked a 14 per cent increase from last year to about INR 1.66 Lakhs. The continuous emphasis on workshops, leadership sessions from industry stalwarts and a comprehensive curriculum has helped nurture future leaders at SIBM. The course pedagogy in line with industry trends and regular visits of eminent faculty from Harvard Business School, Dean Bothell School of Business etc. provided students with wholesome learning. SIBM Pune also organized regular industry and factory visits for its students to ITC, Cummins etc which culminated in students going beyond their classroom teachings.
SIBM Pune proudly hosted 26 new recruiters like Shell India, AstraZeneca, AkzoNobel, Exide Industries, UPL Ltd, GMM Pfaudler, Mahindra CIE, Intel, Kraft Heinz, Texas Instruments, Becton Dickinson & Company, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, Credit Suisse, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance to name a few. While FMCG, BFSI emerged as top recruiters, students also opted for Pharma& Healthcare companies like Abbott healthcare, AstraZeneca, Cipla among others; with SIBM Pune emerging as a major hub for pharmaceutical companies.
SIBM Pune Director, Dr. R Raman said, “The result of summer placements with notable additions of several high-profile new recruiters, diverse sectors and roles opening up, and a considerable increase in stipend demonstrates the calibre of the students as well as the academic rigour at the institute. I heartily congratulate the students of the first year for the meritorious results of Summer Placements 2018."
