​Hyderabad: M Komariah, Chairman of Delhi Public School Nacharam and Principal, Sunitha Rao received the Green Building School Award from C Shekar Reddy, Chairman, Indian Green Building Council – Hyderabad Chapter , Tai Lee Siang, Immediate Past Chair, World Green Building Council, Ramnath Velamati, Chairman, Andhra Pradesh RERA , Rajeshwar Tiwari, Special Chief Secretary – Revenue & Chairman, TS RERA. Green Building Council presented the Final Score Card of IGBC Green Schools under existing school category for project # GS 161072 - ‘Delhi Public School, Nacharam, Hyderabad’ which awarded the school 81 points and an ‘IGBC Platinum’ Rating on November 2.
IGBC set up the Green Schools Core Committee to develop a rating program to address school children from Kindergarten to Higher secondary (KG to + 2). The committee comprises key stakeholders, including educationists, principals, school managements, industry representatives and architects.
The committee, with a diverse background and knowledge has enriched the rating system, both in its content and process. The school rating system is unique in the sense that it addresses eco-education, Health & hygiene besides the infrastructural facilities, energy efficiency, water conservation and waste management. Aspects like nutrition, physical activity & safety are also addressed.
