SIMATS attains IET international accreditation

​Bangalore: SIMATS, Chennai, secured the IET’s international Accreditation for four of its engineering courses. IET accreditation is an internationally recognised benchmark, awarded to high quality programmes that provide an ideal preparation for aspiring professional engineers.

The IET is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community and IET accreditation, licensed by the Engineering Council, covers a broad spectrum of Engineering and Technology subjects.

Recognised around the world as an indicator of quality through the Washington and Sydney accords, The IET accreditation is governed by the International Engineering Alliance (IEA). Institutions with IET Accredited programmes are eligible to apply for the EUR-ACE label, awarded by European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE).

The process of The IET Accreditation for SIMATS began in 2014, the Computer Science Engg, Electrical and Electronics Engg, Electronics & Communication Engg, Mechanical Engg, have now been accredited. The accreditation, with a validity of two years accreditation (from the 2018 intake to the 2019 intake years), will be extended for Three Years after 2020. The outcome of accreditation is aimed to impact the institution quality processes, faculty engagement and student learning experience.

In addition to validating the quality of the institution’s programmes, IET Accreditation also provides direct benefits to graduating students. It allows better International mobility, job prospects in global engineering consulting firms and acceptance for graduate students in foreign universities, opportunities for interdisciplinary research as well as exchanges.
