Hyderabad: In a bid to make India greener, cleaner and healthier, DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Company Limited and Republic TV organised “Behtar India Go Green Summits” in Hyderabad on Friday. The event took place at Oakridge International School, which recycled the highest amount of paper in the city, 18,568 kgs. The first summit took place in Bengaluru, at Vidyashilp Academy, while the second one took place in Kolkata, at Birla High School.
The Behtar India Go Green City Summits hinged around the three important pillars of health, hygiene and environment wherein various stakeholders like school principals, individual change-makers, corporate representatives and local govt./municipal corp. heads discussed the different approaches and steps that could act as catalysts for a better environment for the future generations, encompassing people of all ages & walks of life from young students to individuals, corporate leading all the way to the establishment.
The summit at Hyderabad saw a discussion on the theme “Mana Hyderabad, Healthy Hyderabad”. The panelists who included the likes of Quantela Inc., Hero Cycles, GHMC Telangana and bakeys food offered different perspectives and opinions on how society can contribute towards making a healthy Hyderabad. From school students and individual change-makers to corporates, and municipal and governing bodies, everyone shared what is being done and what further is needed from the community as one unit.
Behtar India is a unique collaborative social responsibility campaign catalysing progressive change towards a sustainable India. As a social innovation ‘Behtar India’ rallies to get different segments of the society together to work towards making India cleaner, greener and healthier. The unique format not only supplements the government's efforts to provide promotive as well as preventive healthcare to the community, but also ensures quality curative healthcare and behavioral change in the fields of hygiene and environment.
Acknowledging the efforts, Anoop Pabby, MD & CEO, DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance, “We have received an overwhelming response from the schools and students in Hyderabad. We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to the children of Oakridge International School who have come forward and taken part in the ‘Behtar India’ campaign and put in their efforts towards adopting recycling as a habit and collected the maximum amount of waste amongst all the participating schools in Hyderabad.
Over 54 schools have so far registered for the campaign in Hyderabad. The city has also recycled 39,158 kgs of waste since the inception of the campaign in April 2018. I urge more companies and schools to come forward and be a part of this campaign so that this message reaches to as many people as possible”
Previously, the ‘Behtar India’ campaign reached out to 11,00,000+ students across 200+ cities and was able to plant 1,50,000 trees. Under the ‘Behtar Swasthya’ initiative, more than 59,000 Dengue protection kits were given out to under-privileged students.
