Hyderabad: A bane of Indian employment and a reason for the growing unemployment rate is the dearth of skilled talent. A solution that can best address this lacuna is in the graduates and other educated youth going in for a specialization by way of getting to be skilled in at least in one specialization. This will not only pave the way for more rewarding employment opportunities and also in earning handsome salaries given the growing demand for skilled manpower.
This was opinion of S Ramachandram, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University, while delivering the keynote address after inaugurating the ICSI Southern Region Convocation 2018 in the Osmania University campus here on Monday.
The programme has been a joint collaboration of the Indian Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and Department of Law, Osmania University. As part of the function, students who had successfully completed their Company Secretary courses from Osmania University were given their certificates.
In his welcome address, CS Prahlada Rao, Vice-President, ICSI, said that skilled manpower was the foundation on which an economy’s growth revolved around. There was a compelling need to have such qualified individuals as they can demonstrate a better productivity that is paramount in the survival of any institution or country.
He lamented that the unemployment rate was not getting reduced because many educated youth are not learning skills that could fetch suitable and well-paying jobs. This also explained why there was such a demand for Company Secretaries and other such qualified personnel in the industry and elsewhere. These add to one’s academic resume.
