Hyderabad: As many as 215336 students out of 266820 students who have appeared for the EAMCET this year in engineering stream have qualified. Out of one lakh girls who have taken the exam, 76524 students have been declared qualified. The total pass percentage in engineering stream is 70.77 per cent.
In agriculture and medical Stream, out 106396 students who appeared, 88487 have secured ranks. The number of girls was more (57017) compared to boys (31470). The total pass percentage of agriculture and medical stream was 83.16 per cent. According to Prof. L Venugopala Reddy, Chairman of AP State Higher Education Council, the engineering counseling would commence from June 29 whereas the medical admission process would begin from June 15 onwards. Students from socially marginalized and economically challenged sections have performed well in the EAMCET this year. An analysis of the engineering results- which were declared on Monday- reveal that 78.31 percentage of SCs and 80.95 percentage of STs have got ranks. The ranks BC students were in between 55 to 64 % range. 46 of muslims have secured ranks.
In Medicine, while 85.19 percent of SCs and 87. 53 percent of STs have performed well and bagged ranks, 77.14 muslims have also got ranks.
This year too, a massive number of 1.6 lakh seats may remain unfilled as the pass percentage in engineering was down. This will also be a bad news for more than 60 percentage of engineering colleges as they they will have to struggle hard to entice students to their institutions. The number of seats available in 689 engineering colleges across the state is roughly 3.45 lakh where as the number of students qualified in the EAMCET was 1,88, 831. It is most likely that there will be a lot of craving for the elite colleges in and around Hyderabad as well as some cities in AP. But there will be a scramble for medical admissions as the numberof seats are just around 6000. The number may come down slightly if the Supreme Court gives a ruling upholding the decision of the Union Government of not renewing the number of additional seats in some colleges due to lack of infrastructure.
The display of OMR Answer sheets of candidates on the website www.apeamcet.org will be available from 5 pm on June 10 to 5 pm on June 13. Candidates can submit representations on the discrepancies if any by paying an amount of Rs 5000 (Rs 2000/ for SC ST students) before 5 pm on June 13.
