Hyderabad: On the occasion of the National Science Day, Amazon Cares flagged off yet another new initiative under its STEM charter that includes setting up of the Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) in several government schools across Telangana and Karnataka. Amazon and it’s project implementation partner India Stem Foundation, will roll out the Atal Tinkering Labs – as per the guidelines of Niti Aayog- in government schools like the Kendriya Vidyalayas, state governed schools as well as those managed by the Zilla Parishads, Mahanagar Palikas, etc. These schools have been chosen so as to enable students from all sections of the society to access STEM learning, training and facilities easily and in the process develop interest in these subjects. ISF will also train teachers and students in this learning methodology, and support the schools with trained professionals.
“At Amazon, we recognize that there is a need to strengthen STEM education during the formative years of children to build their skills in critical thinking and creative problem solving. On the occasion of National Science Day, we are happy to launch this initiative as a major step towards promoting and introducing science to students and developing them to be innovators for their community. We believe that through our sustained efforts in STEM, we can help support development of local communities,” said Minari Shah, Director, Corporate Communications, Amazon India
Atal Tinkering Labs, an initiative under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of NITI Aayog, was set up with an objective to create opportunities to develop Neoteric Child Innovators in India. ATLs are dedicated works spaces where students (Class 6th to Class 12th) learn innovation skills and develop ideas that will go on to transform India. The labs are powered to acquaint students with state-of-the-art equipment such as 3D printers, robotics and electronics development tools, and sensors etc. The labs will let students explore skills of the future such as design and computational thinking, adaptive learning and artificial intelligence.
