​Hyderabad: The South Zone Task Force sleuths on Monday arrested a pickpocket for committing theft from Afghan national. The police recovered 1,400 US Dollars and 5,000 Afghani currency worth about Rs One lakh in Indian currency from the possession of the accused.

According to Task Force sleuths, Syed Mirwais Rahimi, a native of Afghanistan came to Hyderabad on December 29 along with his six year old son Faiaz for eye operation at L V Prasad Eye Hospital.

On January 4, 2019 at 1 pm he came to Mecca Masjid for Friday prayers. He had 1400 US Dollars, 5000 Afghani currency in his Khurta pocket. After completion of the prayers, the accused Mirza Rahmath Baig observed the cash in the kurta pocket of Mirwais Rahimi and taking advantage of the rush while leaving the Masjid, he committed theft of entire cash.

Along with Hussaini Alam Police they have apprehended the pickpocket Mirza Rahmath Baig (20) and recovered the entire cash intact from the accused. The accused was an old offender involved in similar offences under the limits of Chandrayanagutta and Begum Bazar.
