In yet another case of not reducing the ticket prices even after an alert to multiplexes in the city by the GST, the AMB cinemas which is a joint venture between Asian Group and Tollywood star Mahesh Babu has asked to pay Rs 35 lakh.

The AMB cinemas which is being run on Gachibowli-Miyapur road has been charging the customers without reducing the ticket prices and it is learned to have made an illegal profit to the tune of Rs 35 lakh. On learning the illegal profiteering in AMB cinemas in January month, the Rangareddy GST commissionerate has forwarded the details of the profiteering case to the state screening committee of the GST anti-profiteering wing.

The centre has reduced the GST on ticket prices which came into effect from January 2019. However, the AMB cinemas said have acquired a court notice which fixed the ticket price and will be effective from February 22.

Terming the amount to be paid as inflated, the seven-screen cinemas said that they have not received any notice from AMB and also said that the actual amount to be paid will be around Rs 20 to 25 lakh.
