Bigg Boss famed actor Shilpa Shinde has joined the Congress in the presence of its Mumbai unit chief Sanjay Nirupam. During her induction function, she said politics is her choice.

Talking about consulting friends and family before joining politics, Shilpa said, “No I didn’t consult with anyone, this is my own thinking and choice”

“I thought, When I took a stand for myself, I found success, the same way if things which are going wrong or people who are doing wrong if I should a take stand for people and personally take an initiative to help them, it will be good” she added.

Politics could be a real struggle for the actress, which was quite evident at the induction function as reporters stumped her on many questions. Talking about it, Shilpa said, “I have been fighting all my life. So I am used to it. So this was a little thing for me. Having said that, yes I wasn’t able to answer most of the questions, because I was not prepared for such line of questioning. But this is just beginning”

On a query about the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, which had supported her during her spat with the makers of a television serial after she was replaced in it, Shinde said the Raj Thackeray-led party focused only on "Marathi-speaking" people.

"The Congress does not look at any caste or religion while extending a helping hand to those in need. However, the MNS only focuses on Marathi-speaking people. When I needed help, the MNS gave a Marathi angle to my plight," she claimed.
