Hackneyed execution

An IPS officer-turned Chief Minister plans to change the society by mobilising youth for the purpose. He intends to bring in reforms with the help of Next Generation Force (NGF), a youth group that he trains for the purpose. NGF eventually comprises of forty cadets, of which five cadets, Altaf, Siddu, John, Balaram and Krish, prove to be extraordinary and they form the eponymous ‘Aa Aiduguru’.

However, former CM Nagineedu isn’t happy with the new leader’s decisions and wants to assassinate the new CM. But the ‘Aiduguru’ come to his rescue and to know how, one would have to follow the rest of the story.

‘Aa Aiduguru’ has an interesting premise. In fact, the movie attempts to give a solid message. However, the attempt is diluted by a wafer-thin plot and a lacklustre screenplay. What is delivered to us in the end is an unconvincing story with a lot of loose ends. One such instance is how the candidates have been selected in the first place — we never know!

One can’t help but notice how amateurish this film presents itself in terms of implementation and performances in spite of a thought-provoking and riveting plot in hand. While it was difficult to spot anything good about the way the film has been helmed, a few performances are commendable. Venkat is seen making a comeback of sorts with this venture. Though this isn’t his best bet, his look and zeal convince you of his role as the trainer. Complementing him is Asmita Sood. Though her role is short, she exceeds one’s expectations. In a film devoid of any glitz and chutzpah, she provides the needed glamour. The five new faces are definitely fresh but they fail to deliver the goods. The music isn’t something to rave about and the background music, especially, gets on your nerves. On the whole, this is a good script marred by poor direction.
