More of a red signal

It all began in 2012 with ‘Ee Rojullo’. Films that called themselves to be catering to the “young generation”, started to become sleazier, cheesier. It’s been two years and it seems Telugu cinema directors are still suffering from a hangover of the double-entendre genre introduced by Maruthi.

While many have taken to him as an inspiration and have begun churning more and more such films, the inspiration seems to have been a notch higher for Vijay Maddala the director of ‘Green Signal’. However, the interesting aspect is that ‘Green Signal’ seems to be highly inspired by a Bollywood film of the same genre, ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnaama’. If you have watched the movie, then we’d tell you to steer clear of this one because you will be in for a disappointment. If you haven’t, then let’s begin with what the movie is all about – Four urban guys in search of their soul mates end up in complicated relationships. You have the flirt, the good guy, a gay and also the immature guy.

While there are four love tracks, the one that makes some impact is the one involving Manaas and Shilpi Sharma. Their track is made immensely watchable because of the lovely Shilpi Sharma, who essays her role with earnestness. The performances of most of the cast are mediocre but Manaas and Shilpi stand out among the rest and are a relief from the crazy world of ‘Green Signal’. Rakshita is refreshing yet again and reminds you of her performance in ‘Bus Stop’.

The technical departments do not really have much to be talked about, except probably for the camera work that makes this otherwise cheap flick look like an ‘A’ class picture.

Now that you’ve been warned, deciding whether to watch the film or not is your choice! Meanwhile, we’d like to request this ‘new age’ filmmaker to come up with something novel rather than carry on this ‘legacy’ of cheap sex comedies. We’ve had enough!
