Nissan Kicks: Which Colour Is Best?

Nissan’s latest compact SUV, the Kicks, is available in a choice of seven different colours and a choice of four variants - XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium Option. While all variants can be had in the seven monotone colours, the top-spec variant gets the option of four dual-tone colours as well. First up, let’s take a look at the monotone options on offer.

Pearl White

White is one of the safest bets for any car as it easily hides small bumps and scratches. It even commands a better resale value in the used car market. However, the new Nissan Kicks is a funky SUV, so it may seem a little bland in this colour.

Blade Silver

This colour has a classy aura about it. This particular shade of silver looks similar to the one offered with its prime rival, the Hyundai Creta. Being a light shade, it will easily blend in with other cars on the road and will be relatively easy to clean as well.

Bronze Grey

The Kicks’ grey paint option isn’t as dark as you’d expect it to be. However, it's a shade darker than the silver and looks quite neat with the silver roof rails, faux skid plates and the machine-cut alloy wheels. Overall, it strikes a healthy middle ground between discreet and loud.

Amber Orange

This shade truly brings out the funky side of the Nissan Kicks. It’ll surely attract second glances from passersby. However, there’s a price to pay if you opt for this colour and that is the high maintenance it requires to keep it in top shape.

Deep Blue Pearl

This is a dark shade and will stand out on the road. However, it might make the SUV look a tad smaller than it is. This might deter some buyers who want some street cred from their SUV. Keeping it in top shape will require some extra effort from your side as well.

Night Shade (Black)

Black might be safest colour when it comes to clothing but it might not apply to the cars. Although it adds some stealth to the standout design of the Kicks, it will get dirty really fast thanks to the amount of dust and grime in most of our cities.

Fire Red

Name any car and we bet it looks striking in red. And the Nissan Kicks finished in Fire Red is no exception. While it may look flashy on the brochure images, it is comparatively easy on eyes in reality.

Dual-tone Options

As mentioned before, the dual-tone colour options are limited to the top-spec XV Premium Option. The dual-tone shades give the Kicks a very European look and makes it feel more premium as well. Here’s a list of the dual-tone paint options:

If it were to us, we would pick the Nissan Kicks in Bronze Grey with the Amber Orange roof. It mixes a classy grey with an outrageous orange top, which not only looks cool but also enhances the floating roof effect.

The engine options for the new Nissan Kicks include a set of 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engine. The petrol engine churns out 106PS of maximum power and 142Nm of peak torque while the diesel delivers 110PS and 240Nm. The petrol engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission whereas the diesel comes with a 6-speed manual. There’s no automatic option available yet.

The top-spec Nissan Kicks gets a black-and-brown interior theme with leatherette upholstery. Meanwhile, the lower variants make do with a simple, all-black dashboard and fabric upholstery for the seats. You do not get colour-coded interior bits that match the exterior like Hyundai offers with the Creta.

In terms of safety features, the Nissan Kicks gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, speed-sensing door locks and impact-sensing auto unlock function as standard. Higher-spec variants get hill start assist, rear fog lamp, side airbags and a first-in-class ‘Around View’ monitor with a 360-degree parking camera. The Nissan Kicks is priced from Rs 9.55 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
