Here are the highlights of the 2018 Ford Aspire Facelift.
-
The fascia gets an updated grille and restyled front bumper.
-
The 2018 Aspire also gets bigger 15-inch alloy wheels instead of the 14-inch units on the outgoing model
-
Ford has carried forward the dual-tone black-beige colour dashboard, but the Aspire will get a 6.5-inch touchscreen unit instead of the 2-DIN unit on higher variants. Borrowed from the Ford Freestyle, this infotainment unit gets Ford’s SYNC 3 UI and supports Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto
-
The 2018 Aspire misses out on leatherette upholstery, which was a part of the features list of the pre-facelift top-spec Aspire. The 2018 Aspire facelift now makes do with fabric upholstery.
-
The biggest change, however, lies under the hood. Ford now offers the 1.2-litre Dragon series petrol engine from the Freestyle in the 2018 Aspire. This 3-cylinder engine replaces the 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder unit. The new engine makes 96PS/120Nm instead of 88PS/112Nm output of the older engine. It is coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox
-
The bigger 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine from the Ford EcoSport is also offered on the Aspire facelift. It churns out 123PS/150Nm mated to a 6-speed torque converter AT. This engine replaces the existing 1.5-litre petrol engine on the Aspire.
-
The 1.5-litre diesel engine (100PS/215Nm) will be carried forward as is and will be mated to a 5-speed MT
Courtesy of these necessary upgrades and competitive pricing, the Ford Aspire facelift should be in a better position to fend off fierce competition from rivals like the Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire and the Hyundai Xcent.
