Tirupati: The TDP chief and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s native district Chittoor has become a thorn in his eye since two decades as the party could not win majority seats here.
In the run up for 2019 elections also, the party has been facing dissidence in more than half of the constituencies, which the party cannot ignore.
What worries the party more was that even in TDP sitting seats, dissidence has been echoing loudly and requires the involvement of Naidu to pacify them in whatever way possible.
In Palamaner constituency, sitting MLA and Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy has been facing problems with another ticket aspirant and party senior leader RV Subash Chandra Bose, who lost in 2014 elections to the Minister.
Later, Amaranatha switched his loyalties to TDP from YSRCP and became a Minister. Since then, Bose was very much disappointed and feeling neglected in the party.
As Naidu decided to give the ticket to Amaranatha only in the ensuing elections, Bose has resigned to his posts as APSRTC Nellore Region Chairman and Treasurer of TDP State wing and met with his followers.
The Minister met Bose in Palamaner on Friday to seek his support. Bose did not agree to his request and said that he was deeply hurt as his services are not recognised by the party.
Though he may not prefer to leave TDP, in all likelihood, he may be silent and was expected to work against the Minister.
Meanwhile, Jana Sena and YSRCP were said to be looking at Bose for which he was not responding positively. Former MLA SCV Naidu has joined TDP after bifurcation and supported former Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy.
Earlier SCV won on Congress ticket in 2004 but lost in 2009. Due to his ill-health, the five-time MLA has expressed his inability to contest again this time and asked the party to consider the candidature of his son Sudhir Reddy.
SCV Naidu also fighting hard for the ticket and after Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly gave clarity on Sudhir’s candidature, he was disappointed and there was speculation in the constituency that he may join YSRCP.
Even after CM’s dictum, it seems the dissidence in Tirupati TDP leaders has not suppressed and a group of leaders were not in a position of digesting the candidature of sitting MLA M Suguna.
Continuing their differences, a road in the city was inaugurated by MLA a couple of days back and after her departure, TUDA Chairman G Narasimha Yadav went there and inaugurated it again bringing the war between them to the fore.
As the wait for the announcement of candidature, new faces have been appearing on the scene every day. Meanwhile, Chittoor MP Dr N Sivaprasad met former Tirupati Municipal Chairman K Sankar Reddy and requested him to join the party again.
The situation in Nagari was also burning up with MLC and wife of Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, G Saraswathi has been supporting her second son Jagadish, elder son Bhanu Prakash was in the race.
Siddartha Educational Institutions Chairman K Ashok Raju was also mobilising forces to support his candidature. It was not a cakewalk for the CM to finalise the candidates in Satyavedu, Madanapalle, Thamballapalle, Puthalapattu and GD Nellore.
