Bhimadole: Tenant farmers under the joint auspices of AP Kowlu Rytula Sangham and AP Rytu Sangham staged a dharna in front of Mandal Tahsildar office here on Thursday, demanding that the government extend entire capital assistance in first instalment itself.

They raised slogans asking the government to include tenant farmers under the purview of Annadata-sukhibhava programme.

Speaking on the occasion, AP Rythu Sangham district unit secretary K Srinivas alleged that the government betrayed the farmers by providing capital assistance in the first phase.

Though the concessions should be given to tenant farmers, the government ignored the same, he criticised.

He wanted the government to come to the rescue of the tenant farmers who have been committing suicides unable repay the loans taken from money lenders.

He threatened to intensify the agitation, if the government failed to act immediately.

The sangham district president, GV Krishna Rao, Kowlu Rytula Sangham district leaders K Appa Rao, G Nageswara Rao and K Rambabu demanded that the government provide Rs 25,000 financial help to each family of tenant farmers in the first instalment of Annadata-sukhibhava scheme.

All the tenant farmers should be provided with loan identity cards, they demanded. They submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar on the occasion.
