Vijayawada: As part of ‘National Photography Awards’ organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India on the theme ‘Women- led development’, P V Sunder Rao, a professional freelance Photographer from Vijayawada has been awarded with a special prize in professional category.

The award was presented to him during the 7th National Photography Awards presentation ceremony by Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports last week at National Media Centre, Raisina Road, New Delhi.

He shot the award-winning-photograph at Madonna High School for the Deaf, Vijayawada.

This photograph depicts the scenario of the special teacher explaining ‘sense organs’ to the deaf child in sign language.

In another set of photographs presented in the contest, the services of the women teachers involved in special education to the deaf children are beautifully covered.

P V Sunder Rao has done a Certificate Course in Photography from Andhra Loyola College (1989 -90).

Some awards received by him were MILK (Moments of Intimacy, Laughter and Kinship), International Photographic Competition, New Zealand (2000), International Nomination Award, Category ‘Daily Life’, Humanity Photo Award organized by China Folklore Photographic Association, China-2002 and award from Andhra Pradesh Photography Akademi during F1H20 and Air Show Photo Contest, 2018.
