All eligible applicants to get voter ID cards in Eluru

Eluru: In-charge Collector M Venugopal Reddy has said that all the eligible applicants who submitted their forms at special camps arranged for voter registration on Saturday and Sunday will get their photo identity cards soon.

He made surprise visit to polling stations at the ZP High School in Satrampadu and St Xavier High School in Xavier Nagar here on Sunday to inspect the ongoing registration of voters.

Speaking on the occasion, he warned the officials of serious action if they failed to enrol all those eligible voters who submitted their forms for registration.

If any eligible applicant failed to get the voter card, the concerned official would be held responsible and action would be taken against the official concerned.

The in-charge Collector said the applicants can also apply online and the officials would conduct a field survey and include their names in the list. In case of any objections, the applicant would be informed of the reasons for rejection of the form, he revealed.

Reddy said that they were taking every step to ensure all eligible persons exercise their franchise in the ensuing general elections.

He requested the voters not fall prey to influences of money and other forms of bribe while deciding the candidate of their choice in the elections.
