Eluru: District Collector Praveen Kumar has expressed his anger on officials for their inaction in dealing with cases of illegal occupation of government lands and construction of illegal structures on them.
Participating in the ‘Meekosam’ weekly programme, or ‘Redressal of grievances’ day where he receives representations from people on various issues concerning the general public here on Monday, the Collector turned furious when a person from Tadepalligudem complained that the officials were not taking any action against a person who encroached on government land and even started constructions on the site illgally.
The Collector questioned the officials as to why did they failed in taking action on the encroacher. He directed the officials to act swiftly and initiate action with regard to the encroachment. He asked the officials to take action against the guilty however big he was.
With regard to representations received at Meekosam programme, the Collector said all the issues need to be addressed within Saturday. After field-level review of the issue, the officials should take relevant action in all the cases.
They have to submit an action taken report of the previous week Meekosam programme at every Monday, he said.
The Collector also instructed the officials to conduct development, welfare works along with those of elections parallel. As far as instructions on election works are concerned, the officials should ensure their speedy completion avoiding delays, he added.
