Vijayawada: A two-day national-level Techno-Cultural Fest ‘AFOSEC 2019’ started at Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College here on Thursday.
Noted scientist of DRDO DVS Sastri was the chief guest. Addressing the students, he called upon them to dream big and follow the goal with patience and perseverance.
He briefed the audience about the contributions made by DRDO in the field of Science and Technology and presented future needs and challenges.
He along with the other guests and the college management visited the photo gallery arranged on MK Gandhi.
Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education vice-president and VR Siddhartha Engineering College convener M Rajaiah emphasised on the importance of the invention and innovation.
The inaugural function was presided over by VRSEC Principal Prof Dr A V Ratnaprasad.
Organising committee convener and HoD of Mechanical Engineering Prof N Vijaya Sai stated that around 1,000 students from 80 various engineering colleges in the region participated in the event.
He also reported that during AFOSEC-2019, students interestingly participated in the competitions held in various events, like Smart Idea Hackathon, Paper presentation, Technical quiz, Model expo, Sketch your design, Start-up ideas, Robo Mania, Robo War, Creative minds and others.
He informed that the second day will be the cultural fest with classic dance and other events will be performed by the students. Film artiste and writer LB Sriram will be the guest of honor on Friday, added Dr Sai.
