Rajamahendravaram: Godavari Urban Development Authority (GUDA) developed Kambala tank as an entertainment centre for the people in the city. GUDA spent an amount of Rs 5 crore for providing facilities at the Kambala park.
However, the inauguration of the park scheduled for Sunday has been postponed. Mini open air auditorium, gym, walking track, children play equipment, etc were provided along with proper lighting.
Landscaping is another attraction in the park. GUDA chairman Ganni Krishna initiated the park development 20 years ago. At that time, it appeared like a dumping yard.
Later, the park was beautified and also used as a water storage tank. But, from some years, the tank development was kept aside and the people avoided visiting to the park due to lack of facilities and lack of maintenance.
Ganni Krishna, after becoming GUDA chairman, again stepped up measures to develop the tank as a park.
