Tirupati: Financial constrains coupled with lack of awareness coming in the way of containing diabetes in South East Asia nations including India, leaving scores of affected patients suffering with the infection and also leading to other diseases like kidney, skin diseases said the city based senior consultant Dr P Krishna Prasanthi while speaking at the 74th conference of Association of Physicians of India (APICON 2019) at Kochi in Kerala.
Speaking on the impact of diabetes, she said the Type 1 diabetes in children, aged, pregnant and lactating women suffers any fever also result in multi-organ dysfunction affecting liver and kidney underlining a sustained awareness campaign on the fatal ill-effects of diabetes.
Patients should first consult the physician and take treatment under his guidance to avoid complications, she said cautioning against taking own decision and medicines by the diabetic patients.
