Function halls becomes scarce as auspicious month begins

Bhimavaram: With the onset of Maghamasam from Wednesday, the auspicious days have commenced for performing rituals such as marriage, house warming ceremonies, inauguration of shops, etc and this season lasts till the end of June. Following the stars and luck favourable for performing marriages, people have already booked marriage halls which are a few hundred in the district.

However, the number of marriages and other functions that are supposed to be held during this period crossed several thousands. This has created a dire need for function halls in entire district. Managements of the marriage halls have been taking advance payment for the registrations.

As a result, many have been approaching guest houses and temples. Many temples have no dates to offer during this period. Going by the demand for accommodation, schools and community halls are also being booked for holding the functions.

The jewellery shops, on the other hand, present a crowded look in spite of rising prices of gold. The goldsmiths have hectic schedules to meet as thousands of customers order for making jewellery.

Those who cannot find goldsmiths have been approaching jewellery shops and malls even though buying involves extra expenditure.

Textile showrooms are also witnessing heavy rush as the shopping already started for the functions. A sudden spurt in textile business reported from the district owing to the pre-marriage purchases.

Those who are busy include priests, cooks, catering service providers, event managers, music bands, photo and videographers.
