Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Madhyahna Bhojana Pathakam (midday meals) Workers Union will stage a protest at Dharna Chowk here demanding a minimum wage of Rs 8,000 per month.
Union president Kallepalli Sailaja, at a press conference here on Sunday, also asked the government to withdraw the proposal of allotting the midday meals work to private agencies.
She sought identity cards and payment of salaries regularly. Sailaja said that 90,000 women had been working in the midday meal scheme for the last 16 years.
