Tirupati: The city-based NGO Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS) bagged Smart Andhra Pradesh Foundation ‘Appreciation Award’ in recognition of its outstanding services in the field of social service activities more so for implementing several projects related to child and women development, care for aged and programmes for the specially challenged children.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has presented the award to RASS General Secretary G Muniratnam, who received the award along with RASS project directors D Jayachandra Naidu, Nagaraj and Dr K Srinivasulu at Chief Minister’s camp office in Vijayawada on Monday.
RASS which has its presence in different parts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Odisha, taking a call from AP government with the support of Child Fund, has also taken up partnership in promotion of smart village concept with an integrated approach of child, family and community welfare in its operation area of 15 villages in 3 gram panchayats Karakambadi, Venkatapuram and Mamandur in Renigunta mandal since 2001.
The achievement based on the 12 indicators designed programmes including cent percent institutional deliveries, making gram panchayats as a ODF, cent percent enrollment of children in school education, promotion of quality education through smart class concepts, internal roads, safe drinking water, avenue plantation, skill trainings for the youth, improving family income through Self-Help Group (SHG) concept and also household and environmental sanitation through the formed village-level community based organisations like children clubs, youth clubs and SHGs, saw RASS bagging the award. Panchayat Raj Minister Nara Lokesh and others were present.
