Vijayawada: A 42-year-old teacher of government school was booked for raping a Class II girl student at Agiripalli near here. Though the incident occurred on January 22, it came to light on Thursday following a complaint by the victim’s mother to Agiripalli police.
The eight-year-old girl, a student of Government Primary School at Agiripalli, was allegedly raped by Gampa Venkat Rao (42), a teacher working in the same school.
According to Agiripalli SI Rajendra Prasad, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint against the accused Gampa Venkat Rao for raping her daughter. “The victim’s mother mentioned that the teacher, Venkat Rao, lured the girl and raped her.
After noticing that her daughter was suffering excessive bleeding and on asking the girl, the girl narrated the incident,” the SI said. The girl was shifted to the hospital for treatment. The SI said that a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) was registered against the accused. Meanwhile, the government issued orders suspending Venkat Rao on Thursday.
