Vijayawada: The coordination committee meeting of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee decided to go for elections with the Special Category Status agenda. Several senior leaders took part in the meeting chaired by AP Congress affairs in-charge Oommen Chandy at Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Tuesday.

On the occasion, the Congress leaders decided that they should meet the people and tell them that the Congress party would provide Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

They opined that the Congress had improved its strength in the State during the last four years. The people understood the significance of the role of the Congress in national politics, they felt.

Former Union Minister Pallam Raju said that they were not thinking of any alliance with other political parties at this stage. He said that the people of the State want to see Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister of the country.

He said that the Congress would complete appointing committees for all associated party wings in the State. PCC chief N Raghuveera Reddy, senior Congress leaders Kotla Suryaprakasa Reddy, Panabaka Lakshmi, Killi Kruparani, JD Sheelam, N Tulasi Reddy and several other leaders were present.
