Kakinada: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu called upon medical fraternity to extend medical aid to rural poor with service motto. Participating in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of alumni of Rangaraya Medical college [RMC] and Platinum Jubilee of establishment of the college here on Saturday, the Vice-President observed that both education and medical care are two vital aspects of one’s life and complemented Dr.M. V. Krishna Rao, Colonel D.S. Raju and Pithapuram Raja Rao Venkata Mahipati Surya Rao for their combined effort in establishing the medical college 75 years ago.

The Vice-President complemented the organisers for felicitating the kin of those responsible for establishing the college. Venkaiah expressed happiness to know that the college was declared open by former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. On this occasion, Venkaiah Naidu complemented the medical graduates from RMC, for achieving excellence in education, politics and business fields besides civil services. The Vice-President also complemented the RMC students’ excellence in games, sports and in extra circular activities.

On this occasion, the Vice-President deplored that even after 70 years of independence, 20 per cent of the population was still in poverty and they remain illiterates. Commenting on economic front, the Vice-President said that by 2025, India would be one of the three economically developed nations in the world as per the ratings of IMF, Asian Development Bank, World Economic Forum, World Bank and other institutions. Earlier on his arrival, the Vice-President lighted the lamp to inaugurate the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the medical college. Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa, Rajya Sabha member Dr. KVP Ramachandra Rao, former minister Dr Kamimeni Srinivas and others participated.
