The police took 270 activists into custody at various towns including leaders of Left and Jana Sena parties.
Passengers faced inconvenience as the RTC buses were confined to depots. Protestors did not allow autos to ply on roads in Kurnool. Educational institutions and commercial establishments have remained closed till afternoon. The CPM and CPI district secretaries K Prabhakar Reddy and Giddaiah alleged that the police have arrested the agitators, who were staging peaceful protests.
