​Guntur: Farmers who cultivated paddy in Krishna Western Delta region of Guntur district are likely to suffer heavy crop loss because the sheaves over 7000 hectares in the rainwater and another 38,664 hectares of paddy crop already lodged in Repalle,Nizampatnam, Bhattiprolu, Bapatla, Amruthaluru, PV Palem, Karlapalem, Kolliparala mandals.

Rain water is not going into drains and following instructions of the district administration, the Irrigation department officials pressed JCBs to remove silt to facilitate smooth flow of water. Due to stagnant rain water for the last 24-hours paddy likely to get discoloured or damaged.

The Agriculture department officials are saying that rain water will recede, there will be no major crop damage. The farmers say that if paddy gets discolored, the traders will offer less price. Joint collector AMG Imtiaz and joint director of Agriculture G. Vijaya Bharati visited damaged agriculture fields and interacted with farmers.
