T G Bharat, son of TDP Rajya Sabha member T G Venkatesh, made it clear that there should not be any doubt on his contesting as TDP nominee from Kurnool Assembly constituency in 2019 elections
Kurnool: T G Bharat, son of TDP Rajya Sabha member T G Venkatesh, made it clear that there should not be any doubt on his contesting as TDP nominee from Kurnool Assembly constituency in 2019 elections.
“I want to change the destiny of Kurnool, which is lagging behind in development and is plagued by several problems owing to the apathy of successive governments as well as officials,” said Bharat in an interview with The Hans India.
He said he had started ‘Vision Yatra’ to know the problems of the people better first hand. “The yatra will touch every door in the constituency to know the problems of the people. Since the start of Vision Yatra around 500 complaints have been taken note of, which are very minor in nature and length that could be resolved instantly but have been ignored.
The drainage system is very poor and drinking water problem is worse. Several colonies are getting drinking water once in three days. Given this is the winter season, we can only imagine how severe would be the situation in summer,” Bharat said.
On the need to enter politics to serve the people, he said though one has the zeal to serve people, one can’t do much being a common man. “But, if you have a position and power, you can do much more than what you have done or doing now,” he said.
Answering a question, he said Kurnool Assembly seat was of his father T G Venkatesh, so he wants to contest from there. When pointed out that there were already other contenders for to TDP ticket from the constituency, he said we are in a democratic country and everyone was free to seek ticket. “There is no bar on seeking ticket, but who is going to be the actual candidate will be decide by the party high command,” he said.
When he was reminded that Nara Lokesh during his tour in Kurnool already announced the names of candidates for Kurnool Assembly and Parliament constituencies, Bharat said he was always in the service of the people, getting good response from people of all walks of life.
As the high command would not decide a candidate without conducting a survey on winning prospects of a person, he said he would get the ticket. Lastly, Bharat said that he was born and brought up in Kurnool town, though hailing from Adoni and wants to serve the people of this constituency.
