Vijayawada: Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes) B Raja Kumari flagged off the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) ‘Publicity Van’ from City Police Service Station, located on MG Road, Vijayawada on Friday.
A programme was organised by BPCL on behalf of oil industry, B Prakash, Territory Manager of BPCL welcomed the gathering and B Raja Kumari, administered the conservation pledge to the gathering consisting of officials of PCRA, oil Marketing companies and the customers.
S.P. Selvam, Additional Director and RC, PCRA Southern Region said the van publicity programme is to spread awareness among public on oil & gas conservation and fuel saving tips in various sectors like agriculture, domestic, industrial and transport.
The programme also includes screening of video films in Telugu on PCRA’s fuels and energy saving tips. The van will travel about 3000 km across Andhra Pradesh in 75 days covering about 40 km a day.
DCP Raja Kumari said that it is the responsibility of citizens to conserve petroleum products so that the environment will be cleaner and precious foreign exchange will be saved for the country.
She appealed to the users belonging to various segments including transport, domestic and industry to adopt various practices prescribed to efficiently use petroleum products and there by conserve fossil fuels so that it is available for future generations also.
She advised the vehicle users to properly maintain the vehicles and practice good driving habits so as to save fuel and there by money spent on it. She complimented PCRA for taking steps to spread awareness on conservation among masses and for tips on right way of using fuel efficiently.
Officials from oil industry who participated in the programme include Umashankar GKKV, State-level coordinator for oil industr, V Srinivas, Addnl. Director, PCRA, MVSNV Brahmananda Rao, Territory Manager (LPG), BPCL, Vijayawada, Y Srinivas, Manager – Sales, BPCL and others were present.
