Srikakulam: The State government decided to amend existing master plans in towns and cities. With an aim to satisfy present requirements of the people and accommodate improvements, master plans need to be changed. In all 110 municipal towns, corporations and nagara panchayats, master plans need to be changed.
Master plans were prepared 20 years ago in all towns and cities in AP and now government is planning to change master plans by considering 2011 Census and present requirements. The amendments would be made to master plans taking into consideration the requirement for transport facilities, roads, drains, parks, water supply, greenery, residential and commercial areas of particular towns and cities.
Technology would be used to change master plans like GPS and geo-tagging of localities in the towns and cities to prevent irregularities. Previously deviations were reported from the prepared master plans due to some political pressure and irregularities. With regard to Srikakulam city, Day and Night Junction area has been notified as a residential in the existing master plan but it is purely a commercial area.
One way traffic road also mentioned as residential area in Srikakulam city but it is also commercial area. As per government guidelines, requirements of people of various towns and cities would be considered for the next 20 years while modifying the master plan. “We have received communication from the government for amendment of existing master plans,” confirmed Srikakulam corporation commissioner R Sriramulu Naidu.
