Kurnool: MP Butta Renuka said it is proud to host All India Senior Ranking Badminton tourney in Kurnool. She along with TG Bharat, the Kurnool District Badminton Association president participated as chief guests on the concluding ceremony of the three-day All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament conducted at Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

Later speaking on the occasion, Butta Renuka said it is proud to host National level games at Kurnool. She lauded the efforts of AP Badminton Association for taking the initiative to host the National tournament. The athletes have exhibited their sports spirit. Winning and losing is very common factor in every game but playing the game with zeal is what counts here, she stated.

The president of Kurnool District Badminton Association, TG Bharat said it is the first time that All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tourney is organised in Kurnool. Around 600 sports persons from various parts of India have taken part in the tourney, said Bharat.

Hosting the national level tournaments in Kurnool will motivate parents to encourage their children to take part in sports, he said and added that he will extend his support in encouraging sports. He also appreciated the organisers for making the tournament a grand success.

Later MP, Butta Renuka and TG Bharat distributed prizes to the winners and runners. The winners in singles and doubles event were given a cash award of Rs.50,000 and the runners in single got Rs.25000, in doubles event Rs.27000, mixed doubles winners got Rs.52,000 and runners Rs.27,000. besides a cash award the winners and runners were also felicitated with cups, medals and commendation certificates.
