Vijayawada: Koti deepotsawam would be conducted at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium on December 6 to mark the devotional occasion of Karthika Masam, said State Hindu Dharma Parirakshana Trust chairman Sita Ramanjaneya Prasad.
Speaking to media, Sita Ramanjaneya Prasad said that over 5,000 women will participate in Koti Deepotsavam and light the lamps at the venue. The lighting of one crore lamps will begin at 4 pm and continue till 8 pm.
About 130 priests will recite Vedic hymns on this auspicious occasion. This devotional programme is being organised to invoke the god to bless AP to achieve progress and development.
As per the Hindu mythology, Koti Deepotsavam is celebrated as part of its endeavour to propagate Indian ethos, rich traditions, culture and spirituality in the purest form. As part of this, the participants will light lamps (‘diyas’) at IGMS, he added.
