Pithapuram: The Municipal Council meeting on Wednesday witnessed war of words between councillor Khandavalli Lovaraju and DE Prabhakar. The pandemonium broke out when councillor Khandavalli Lovaraju objected the allotment of municipal funds to panchayat and R&B roads, where YSRC councillors supported his stand. When the issue of renaming Bangaramma centre with clock tower as Varma Centre was included in the table agenda, the war of words took place between both the sides.

Khandavalli questioned the rationality of its inclusion in the agenda of emergency meeting. He said that statues of national leaders were there at the circle. Giving a clarification on the issue, commissioner G Srujana said that it was included in the agenda as the majority of the councillors submitted a letter with their consent. Council has been authorised to rename the circle and the resolution will be sent to DMA for permission. By saying that they are opposing it, Khandavalli Lovaraju and YSRC councillors B Swarnalatha, P Jyothi, V Bhuvaneswari, J Radha submitted their dissent to chairman Karanam Chinna Rao.
