Vizianagaram: Member of State Child Rights Commission Kesali Apparao on Friday directed the district authorities to demolish all the compound walls and bathroom walls of anganwadi centres, primary schools and high schools which are in a dilapidated state. He announced this decision after inspecting the condition of walls and roofs of Anganwadi centres and schools which are in dilapidated state.

The member visit assumes significance in the wake of an incident reported recently at Salur where a class three girl lost her life when a dilapidated bathroom wall collapsed on her.

Speaking to media, he said the Commission would organise a meeting with education and ICDS officers to review the condition of those buildings. He said that the commission would take steps to protect the rights of children and would direct the concerned officials to take all measures in this regard.

The officials should identify the buildings or walls in dilapidated state and demolish those structures to prevent any unwanted incidents. “We will take serious action on the officials if they fail to obey the instructions given by the commission,” he warned.
