Eluru: India Medical Association (IMA) Eluru chapter president Dr V Yogendra Babu has said that rapid changes in lifestyle and food habits have been resulting in diabetes in developing countries like India.
He was speaking at a national seminar on ‘Keto Diet and Realities’ to mark World Diabetes Day organised by Sir CR Reddy College of Pharmaceutical Sciences here on Wednesday.
He said diabetes can be controlled to a certain extent by keto diet. It would also help in reducing obesity among type two diabetic patients. However, the cure of disease by the keto diet was not possible, he said.
He announced that the IMA would organise diabetes camps during November to mark the day. He urged the pharmacy students to come forward to extend their services at health centre to be set up at Eluru GGH by the IMA.
This centre would be beneficial to patients of blood pressure and diabetes, he added.
Students of pharmacy colleges from Tamil Nadu and two Telugu states attended the seminar.
In his address, diabetologist Y Ramakrishna Prasad appreciated students of the CRR college for their research on controlling glucose levels.
CRR educational institutions president K Rambabu and others were present.
