Ongole: The negligence of doctors and nurses in the Mother and Child Hospital in Ongole made the newborn baby lose his mother. The family of the victim demands action on the doctors and nurses, but the authorities are mum on the incident.
According to the family members of victim, Perabattina Lakshmi of Padarti village in Kothapatnam mandal joined the Mother and Child Hospital in Ongole for delivery on Saturday. By the time Lakshmi suffered pains, the duty doctor was not available, it is said.
The nurses allegedly shifted the woman to the labor room and performed caesarian and the woman delivered a baby boy. The nurses handed over the baby to family members. In the meantime, the nurses came out of the operation theatre and spoke to doctor over mobile phone and informed the situation.
Perabattina Sujata, mother-in-law of the victim and witness of total episode in the hospital, said that the nurses informed to duty doctor over phone that they pulled the uterus while cleaning the placenta and the woman was bleeding badly. After the instructions from the doctor, the nurses informed the family members that Lakshmi was critical and asked them to shift her to RIMS immediately.
The family members shifted the bleeding mother and baby to the RIMS. The doctors in RIMS said that they tried their best but announced that the woman was died on Sunday morning.
The family members of Lakshmi shifted her body to the Mother and Child Hospital again in the afternoon and protested in front of the hospital. The police tried to pacify them but the family members demanded justice and sought action on the negligent doctors and nurses.
