Vizianagaram: The police on Saturday arrested two persons and recovered an AK-47 rifle stolen from an AR constable recently.
Producing the two accused before media here, SP P Palaraju said Abhimanyu Sahoo, a constable working with Odisha police, went to Hyderabad along with his colleagues to bring electronic voting machines and some other polling material to Odisha.
While coming back on lorry along with container of election material, Sahoo slept in the cabin along with driver in Denkada mandal of Vizianagaram on October 13.
When he woke up in the morning, he found that his weapon along with some cash was stolen by somebody. Later he lodged a complaint with Denkada police.
The police arrested the accused when they were moving in suspiciously. During interrogation they admitted their crime. The accused were identified as Sanjuram Sindhu and Nagesh Sindhu of Maharashtra.
