Ongole: Vigilance Awareness Week of Anti-Corruption Bureau in Prakasam district began on Monday. It will be observed till November 3, announced the ACB DSP, Thota Prabhakar.
He led the no-corruption pledge-taking ceremony of the employees in the office here.
Prabhakar explained that as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week, all employees in the government offices took the pledge not to involve in any sort of corruption to build a corruption-free nation.
He said that to create awareness among public on the corruption, the ACB was planning week long activities like distributing pamphlets, handouts on preventive vigilance activities, whistle blower mechanism and other anti-corruption measures, conducting workshops and sensitization programmes for employees and other stake holders on preventive vigilance measures, anti-corruption rally in Ongole, conducting of various competitions like debates, elocutions, quiz at schools and colleges on issues relating anti-corruption involving youth.
Prabhakar said that there was a misconception in public about the amendment to Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. He said that according to the amended Act came into force since August 2018, the people who have given bribes in unavoidable circumstances, can inform the same to the ACB within seven days so that there will be no legal action against them.
He also assured that there will be no legal issues to the vigil blowers who give information about the corruption, income tax evasion and benami transactions. He requested the public to share information of corruption at 9440446189, 9440446187 or 8333925624 for action on them.
