Vijayawada: To make every citizen a life saver in emergency, the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists and Indian Resuscitation Council took the initiative to offer training in ‘Compression only life support’, organised by Dr Sri Lakshmi and Dr Uma of department of anesthesia and intensive care of Nagarjuna Hospital, Kanuru, Vijayawada and Dr Praneeth of Sidhartha Medical College.

About 800 students and staff of PVP and VR Siddhartha Engineering Colleges were given training through power point presentation on a simple methods on how to be a life saver using ‘Chest Compression only Life Support’, if someone collapses in public places, home or at work places.

Practical training using Manikens was also given. This procedure is helpful to save lives before ambulance arrives.

DR Lakshmi said that India was a country where the population was high, rates of sudden cardiac death were on the rise. Moreover, ambulance arrival time was also high.

This training would help prevent many deaths because of delay in medical help.
