Chittoor: Teachers are not showing interest to work in the government schools in the Kuppam Assembly constituency due to which there are 419 teaching vacancies, said Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy while participating in the ZP general body meeting held at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan here on Saturday.

Addressing the MLAs, MLCs and ZPTCs, the Minister directed the Education Department to fill vacancies with Vidya Volunteers. He assured of filling all vacancy posts in Kuppam and V Kota mandals.

GD Nellore MLA Narayanaswamy and Piler MLA Ramachandra Reddy have raised the issue if cheap quality rice is being cooked and served to children under the mid-day meal contract.

They demanded to sack the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), the main contractor for supplying food to school students under mid-day meal scheme.

Ramachandra Reddy accused ISKCON of providing half cooked food the students. Puthalapattu MLA Dr Sunil brought to the notice of the ZP Chairperson that x-ray equipment in government hospitals are not working, especially at government hospital in Palamaner.

Gram panchayats have become defunct with the appointment of special officers, said Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy. Chittoor MLA D A Satyaprabha has expressed anguish over non-functioning of 108 ambulance services.

Madanapalle MLA Desai Thippa Reddy said his constituency is facing acute water shortage. MLCs G Srinivasulu and B N Rajasimhulu also raised several issues.

ZPTC members have expressed displeasure over MLAs and MLCs dominating ZP meeting proceedings. Only four ZPTCs from the total of 66 have got opportunity to speak in the meeting. ZP CEO Ravi Naidu and other officials were present.
