Visakhapatnam: The government is very keen to develop the Visakhapatnam-Bheemili beach road with more beautification works and more tourism spots.

Talking in this regard HRD Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao said that the GVMC, VMRDA and Tourism Department should work hand in hand in order to complete the ongoing works and to initiate more attractions on the beach road from Coastal Battery to Bheemili. The minister expressed his dissent over the slow in executing the works.

The minister convened meeting on Tuesday with collector Pravin Kumar, Metropolitan Commissioner of VMRDA Basanth Kumar, Regional Director AP Tourism Radhakrishna Murthy, District Tourism Officer Poornima Devi and other senior officials and reviewed the activities and proposed projects on the beach front.

The minister directed the officials to prepare an integrated action plan within a week on the proposed projects and the present works. Unless developing the beach road from Coastal Battery to Bheemili, the tourism sector would not be developed in the city.

The long nature blessed beach road is an asset to the city. The asset should be developed ensure to attract the international tourists, the minister directed the officials. Due to the lack of the coordination between the departments, the newly laid roads are being dug for various purposes and people are criticising the government. Here after, the entire respective departments should take up any works before laying the road, the minister directed the officials.

Terming the development works including central medians, landscaping works, central lighting, footpaths on the both ends and greenery near GITAM University the entire Visakhapatnam-Bheemili beach road should be developed similarly.

The minister also directed the VMRDA officials to speed up the works Integrated Museum Complex. The Integrated Museum Complex comprises the present INS Kurusura (submarine museum), TU-142 (aircraft museum), Sea Harrier to be established at Rajiv Smrithi Bhavan will be clubbed and an underground parking complex with a capacity of 800 vehicles. During the meeting the ministers and officials also finalised to kick-start the long pending Visakha Valley School road, urban housing scheme at Kommadi and Try Junction.
