Ongole: The Prakasam district unit of Unemployed Physical Education Teachers Joint Action Committee, held a protest in front of the District Collectorate here on Tuesday and demanded that the government implement the GO No 29 and keep its promise of filling 1056 posts through the DSC in 2018.

The JAC state president R Devender Goud, vice president R Ramesh Babu and general secretary P Hazarath Reddy said that there are about one lakh unemployed PETs waiting for the recruitment in state.

They demanded that the government implement the GO No 29, dated May 22, 2017 to encourage physical literacy and must appoint one PET and one SA (Physical Education) in all upper primary and high schools with 400 students.

They demanded that the government fill the 70 percent of vacancies through promotions and the remaining through direct recruitment.

The PETs reminded the promise of Education Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao in the last Assembly meet that the government will fill 1056 PET posts through the DSC in 2018.

They also wanted to scrap or revise the GO No 74, issued on September 20 announcing that there are only 47 posts for the PETs in the state and there are no vacancies in Prakasam district.

They said that the GO came as a blow to the PETs preparing for the DSC for the last two years and demanded that the government do justice by announcing the recruitment of 1056 posts as promised by the minister.
