Vijayawada: Municipal workers strike has huge impact on the Swarajya Maidan Rythu Bazaar as tonnes of garbage piled up due to non-clearance for the last four days.

Both consumers and sellers at the Rythu Bazaar were suffering a lot due to stink and unhygienic conditions prevailed.

At least 10,000 consumers visit Rythu Bazaar everyday to purchase vegetables, fruits and other products.

On the busy Sunday, unhygienic conditions welcome consumers at all entry and exit points.

The garbage dumped by the farmers near the Rythu Bazaar was creating foul smell not only to the consumers but also to the traders and staff of Rytu Bazaar.

Some people complained to the Estate Officer on the unhygienic conditions prevailed near the Rytu Bazaar. No action was taken by the EO, said G Samuel, lecturer.

He said that the maintenance was very poor. When ‘The Hans India’ spoke to the EO V Koteswara Rao, he threw the blame on the municipal workers who were on strike for the last four days demanding that the government resolve their problems.

He said that the workers were on strike for the last four days and the garbage was piled up heavily.

Estate officer said that everyday nearly five tonnes of garbage will be cleared by a special VMC vehicle.

As the workers were on strike, they were in a helpless condition. He said that they tried to clear by using a tractor but in vain.

If the situation near the Ryhtu Bazaar continues for some more days, no buyer will come to buy vegetables, said vendor M Krishna.
