Stray animals on roads create death traps: Minister Adinarayana Reddy

Vijayawada: Minister for Marketing and Warehousing, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Adinarayana Reddy said that large stray animals like cows and buffalos are becoming death traps and creating traffic obstacles these days and should be shifted to rescue shelters.

He participated in Annual Animal Husbandry Board meeting and released a wall poster of Pestis Petatis Ruminavts (PPR) prevention scheme here on Friday.

Addressing the media, the minister briefed on the implementation of Central and State government scheme relating to the Animal Husbandry.

He said that all the schemes should reach the beneficiary and the officials should take special initiative to implement the schemes from the grassroots level in rural areas.

He said that stray animals like dogs, pigs and monkeys were resulting in fatal road accidents and they should be rescued and shifted to shelters.

Bhagavan Das, a senior board member asked the minister to provide one acre land in all the cities across the state to protect the stray animals on the streets as part of the smart city development programme.
The Minister responded positively and assured the board members to pursue all their appeals and suggested the Animal Husbandry officers to implement the central and state partnership scheme of PPR with immediate effect, use mobile hospital vehicles to create awareness among the villagers on the PPR.

The Minister told the officials to complete the Animal population senses.
